10 Years of Relevant Experience in Design of Railway Wagons /Rolling Stock with expertise in Finite Element Method (FEM) / Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), Design Evaluation

Job Responsibility

1. Lead mechanical design team of Railway wagons, Rolling stock from concept to detailed engineering.

2. Understanding client requirements during the tendering & Implementation stage and highlight deviations, if any.

3. Hands-on experience of CATIA/ Solid Works, Hyper Mesh / Abaqus/ANSYS – (Discovery).

4. Understanding of Noise and Vibration analysis & Multibody Simulation.

5. Ability to conduct FEM – FEA and prepare and report and recommend the improvement required.

6. Understanding of Design development phases (CDR to FDR) and activity of each phase.

7. Understanding of the DFMA, GDnT, Dimensioning and Tolerancing etc.

8. Well conversant with EN 12663 - Railway applications - Structural requirements of railway vehicle bodies.

9. Coordinate with Mechanical Design, Structural Engineering, FEM/FEA, Railway Operations and other multidisciplinary teams for design validation.

10. Validate wagon designs with reference to Association of American Railroads (AAR) standards and Recommended Practices, along with applicable Indian Railway Schedule of Dimensions (IRSOD) and other relevant standards.

11. Review drawings, fabrication documents and inspection requirements.

12. Prepare and review design calculations, datasheets, specifications and engineering drawings.

13. Resolve design changes, technical queries during fabrication and installation.

14. Drive design optimization, material optimization and cost-effective engineering solutions.

15. Prepare and review technical reports, FEM analysis reports, design validation reports and engineering recommendations.

16. Submit daily, weekly & monthly reports to the management on the progress of various contracts. 

17. Document customer complaints and feedback and create action plan to meet consumer expectations. 

18. Ensure timely completion of design review, analysis and technical deliverables in accordance with project timelines. 

Attributes

1. Strong expertise in Railway Wagon Design and Rolling Stock.

2. Excellent knowledge of ASME codes, EN 12663, AAR section C,B,E, G & H and mechanical design calculations.

3. Ability to interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings, loading diagrams and dimensional specifications.

4. Excellent multidisciplinary coordination and problem solving skills. 

5. Ability to manage engineering deliverables and ensure on-time completion with quality and code compliance. 

6. Strong leadership and team mentoring skills.
