Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Environmental Management/ Sustainability/ Business Administration or related field.

Master's degree (MBA/ Sustainability/ Environmental specialization) preferred.

Experience

  • 6-8 years of overall experience out of which minimum 4-5 years in Business Development/Marketing in the field of technical services like Energy/Water/Sustainability/ESG/Carbon Footprint.
  • Business Development experience in alternative areas (e.g. Environmental Services, BRSR, etc) can be an added advantage.
  • Strong preference for more experienced candidates.

Job Responsibility

  • Work with Energy & Carbon Services and leveraging support from the central Sustainability Services team.
  • Establish a Client Base for Energy/Water/ Sustainability/Carbon Footprint and other sustainability services.
  • Responsible for day-to-day coordination with existing & potential customers, visit to various clients, understanding the need of customers, consultation with the Sustainability subject matter experts for any technical inputs.
  • Generate enquiry from client, prepare costing/profitability calculations, preparation & submission of proposal to clients, follow up with client for order finalization, facilitate the appointment of associate, tracking progress across the portfolio, and reporting back to the Sustainability Product team.
  • Undertake detailed analysis of marketing efforts, e-marketing, e-tendering, marketing plan, work order/invoicing target (monthly/quarterly/half yearly and annually).
  • Oversee associate activities across the sites, to ensure these projects are correctly scoped and tendered. In addition, registration with state nodal agency.
  • Focus on developing local vendors with energy expertise, such that they can perform the execution at project location with minimum travel cost as well as identify and seek to partner with vendors for Energy | Water | Sustainability |Carbon Footprint services to strengthen the local presence. 
  • Position the client at the forefront of energy and sustainability services.

     

Key Responsibilities

A. Business Development & Lead Generation

  • Identify potential clients across sectors (manufacturing, aviation, energy, FMCG, textiles, chemicals, waste management, etc.)
  • Develop and nurture a strong sales pipeline for sustainability services.
  • Track tenders, RFPs, policy announcements, and market developments related to ESG, GHG, LCA, carbon markets, EPR, renewable energy, sustainability reporting, and certifications.
  • Conduct outreach through emails, calls, presentations, webinars, and industry meetings.

B. Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Understand client requirements and recommend appropriate sustainability and climate solutions.
  • Conduct initial scoping discussions, prepare capability presentations, and support pre-sales meetings with technical teams.
  • Maintain and grow long-term relationships with key accounts.
  • Manage CRM records, client follow-up, and documentation.

C. Proposal & Commercial Support

  • Prepare techno-commercial proposals for:

    Carbon footprint (PCF, CFP, GHG Inventories)

    Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) – ISO 14040/44

    EPD verification, PEF studies

    ESG reporting (BRSR, GRI, SASB, CSRD, CDP)

    Sustainability audits

    ISCC/RSB/CORSIA/CBAM/LCA verification services

    Zero Waste/Net Zero/Water stewardship programs

  • Collaborate with technical teams to refine scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals and follow-up on conversions.

D. Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Monitor key developments in sustainability standards, climate policies, and sectoral compliance requirements.
  • Analyze competitor offerings, pricing, and market positioning.
  • Provide strategic inputs to management for new service line development.
  • Support brand building through participation in conferences, seminars, and exhibitions.

E. Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with sustainability consultants, auditors, and technical experts.
  • Coordinate onboarding, contracting, and project handover to execution teams.
  • Support creation of BD collaterals—pitch decks, brochures, case studies, and sector-specific capability documents.

Attributes

  • Strong communication skills and proactive client relationship management skills, especially in complex, self-directed working environments.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data management.
  • Detailed knowledge of Energy/Water/Sustainability/Carbon Footprint services, and how these can best be predominantly marketed in the existing environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required.
