• cílem je ověření úspor produkce skleníkových plynů při výrobě a použití biopaliv ve srovnání s klasickými fosilními palivy – v současnosti min. 35 %
• provádí se dle kritérií udržitelnosti pro biopaliva ve shodě se směrnicí

Evropského parlamentu a rady 2009/28/ES o podpoře využívání energie z obnovitelných zdrojů tzv. RED direktivy

• je aplikovatelný na všechny části řetězce od zemědělské prvovýroby, skladovatelů, obchodníků, výrobců biopaliv a biokapalin, obchodníků s palivy
• od 1.1. 2011 je tato certifikace závazná pro veškeré komodity a vedlejší produkty, které se mohou používat na zpracování do biopaliv a biokapalin

The requirements for the sustainability of biomass and biofuels, together with the savings in greenhouse gas emissions, have been reflected in Czech legislation in the form of Government Regulation No. 446/2011 on sustainability criteria. Certification is now carried out by Czech auditors approved by the German BLE (Federal Office for Agriculture and Food).
