The standard, intended for suppliers in the nuclear power industry, was issued in February 2019 under the title ISO 19443:2019 Quality management systems - Specific requirements for the use of ISO 9001:2015 by organisations in the nuclear power supply chain that supply products and services relevant to nuclear safety. The standard incorporates the mandatory requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), thereby fundamentally directing the priority of management system objectives towards nuclear safety. Therefore, compliance with the requirements of ISO 19443:2019 requires a fundamental rebuilding of the quality management system established according to EN ISO 9001 - the entire system must be adapted to the priority of nuclear safety.

To date, we are also the only company that can offer a certification audit (with the issuance of a non-accredited certificate), the aim of which is to review the compliance of the management system with the requirements of this standard. The strict requirements for audits in the nuclear sector according to ISO/TS 23406, which significantly modifies the requirements of ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, are currently met by 4 auditors who have extensive experience in the nuclear industry.
Similarly to SIGMA GROUP a.s., whose certificate opened the way to contracts for the Hungarian Paks II (more here), it is expected that the implementation of a quality system according to this standard will gradually be required as a condition for participation in the supply chain for the construction of new sources in the nuclear power sector.
