Inspections of lifts by an Independent and Recognised Organisation are carried out in order to verify their safe operation.

The inspections may be initial, after the installation of the lifts and before they are put into service, or periodic at regular intervals, depending on the type of building.

The inspection and certification of lifts has been an established practice in developed European countries for decades, while in Greece it has been in force since 2000.

However, the inspection of lifts is not just a legal obligation, but an essential examination of the lift and the functionality and effectiveness of all safety provisions, with the aim of protecting both the occupants and the maintainer. Inspection should not be confused with routine maintenance.

It is worth noting that inspection and certification applies to all lifts, whether new or old, installed in single-family houses, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, public and utility buildings, industrial installations, etc.

TÜV HELLAS is an Accredited Inspection Body by the National Accreditation System (NAC) and a Notified Body in the European Union with notification number 0654 for the provision of Elevator Inspection and Certification services.
