Machine Safety - Risk assessment and Validation

What is Risk Assessment?

Risk Assessment is a systematic process consisting of sequential steps such as Risk Identification, Risk Estimation, Risk Evaluation, Risk Reduction & Risk Removal enabling us with judgement whether the machinery/assembly that has to be put into operation is safe or not.

Risk assessment is a continual repetitive process. Iteration of this process is required to eliminate the hazard as far as possible by reducing the risks to an acceptable level.

Risk Assessment is risk based thinking process that acts as a preventive tool for keeping the machinery/assembly safe for its complete service lifetime.

The purpose of the Risk Assessment is to achieve the highest practicable safety.

Why is Risk Assessment required?

Increased technological advancements, growing complex machineries and their system integrations, extreme automations in this rapidly changing society gives a rise to increased accidental risks from machineries and automations.

Every year millions of people all around the world face accidents at workplace resulting into some minor or major injuries to their health, sometimes even death.

Millions of dollars are paid by companies against accidental insurance claims which not only is an unwanted cost to the company but also a damage to the company’s goodwill. Accidents does not only create financial and reputation losses but also loss in respect to equipment damages, production time wastage, time to train replacement employee etc.

It is assumed that if not paid attention to a hazard present, sooner or later it will lead to a dangerous accident resulting into temporary or permanent damages to the workers.

In today’s world Risk Assessment plays a key role by providing step-by-step analysis and mitigation of the hazards and enable us with mitigation plan for present and foreseeable risks.

How TUV India can help?
