Change at the top of Board of the Association of TÜVs (VdTÜV)

News | 19.05.2014: Dr. Guido Rettig who is the Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV NORD AG, is the new Chairman of the Board of the Association of TÜVs (VdTÜV).

Dr. Guido Rettig who is the Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV NORD AG, is the new Chairman of the Board of the Association of TÜVs (VdTÜV). He will be taking the position of Chairman of the Board for the second time subsequent to his previous period of office which began in 2007 succeeds Mr. Manfred Bayerlein.

In his address Dr. Rettig mentioned : “Going forward, protecting people and technology against risk and avoiding hazards will continue to be the most important tasks of the VdTÜV member organisations. At the same time, they promote economic progress and technical innovation – for example as regards the energy supplies of the future, safe mobility and cyber-security.

Dr. Rettig was born on 23 May 1953 in Mönchengladbach. Following studies at the technical college in Mönchengladbach and the University of Applied Engineering Jülich/Aachen he went on to the Technical University of Berlin. After his first professional experience in Düsseldorf and Krefeld he joined TÜV Nord e.V. in Hamburg in 1993. In 1996 he was appointed to the Board of Management, responsible for Energy and Systems Technology. At the beginning of 2006 he became Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV NORD GROUP and in 2013 was also elected as President of the Industrie-Club Hannover.

VdTÜV is the umbrella association of all TÜV organisations and of other technical inspection bodies and represents the interests of its members in the decision-making centres of Berlin and Brussels. It is an important partner in all aspects of technical safety, sustainability and environmental protection.
