The International Standard ISO 22716 outlines the requirements for the application of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for companies that produce, package, store and distribute cosmetic products.
Its objective is to ensure consumer safety.
It should be noted that the European Cosmetic Products Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, with mandatory application from July 2013, makes it a requirement for companies manufacturing cosmetic products to adopt the Rules of Good Industrial Practice. The implementation and certification of a management system in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 22716 by cosmetics manufacturing companies demonstrates their compliance with the forthcoming legislative requirement.
In detail, the ISO 22716 standard describes the requirements and provides guidance for the implementation of good practices in the cosmetic products industry. In addition, it incorporates guidelines and practical methods regarding organizational and technical guidance for managing the human, technical and administrative factors affecting the production, control, storage and distribution of cosmetic products.
