Lender's Technical Advisor (LTA) Services

What is LTA for PV Projects?

Lender Technical Services for PV Projects refer to specialized technical services provided by professional institutions to financial institutions (such as banks, trusts, funds, etc., referred to as "lenders") that finance photovoltaic projects. These services focus on technical feasibility assessment, risk evaluation, and quality control of PV projects. The core purpose is to enable lenders to more scientifically assess the technical rationality and potential risks of PV projects, thereby supporting credit decision-making and reducing lending risks.

Why is lender technical support important?

These services bridge the gap between financial capital and technical implementation in PV project financing by helping lenders compensate for their lack of photovoltaic technical expertise, thereby more accurately identifying potential technical risks in projects. This significantly reduces credit default risks caused by technical issues.

PV projects are characterized by being technology-intensive, having long lifespans (typically 20-25 years), and requiring substantial upfront investments. Technical deficiencies (such as poor design, substandard equipment, or non-compliant construction) can directly lead to:

  • Project power generation fails to meet targets
  • Operating costs have skyrocketed
  • The facility cannot even operate normally
  • Impeding lenders' loan recovery

LTA Services Include:

Technical Feasibility Assessment

Evaluates PV project site selection (solar resource, terrain geology), design program (module/inverter selection, system topology, grid connection plan), rationality of generation yield prediction model, and compliance of technical parameters with national/industry standards. Determines technical implement ability of the project.

Supply Chain Technical Evaluation

Analyzes technical performance, reliability, and lifecycle of core equipment (PV modules, inverters, mounting structures), as well as suppliers' technical capabilities, warranty terms, and financing viability. Assesses potential revenue impacts from equipment failures (e.g., substandard equipment increasing O&M costs).

Construction Phase Risk Monitoring

Supervises technical compliance during construction, including module installation quality, cable laying standards, mounting structure installation, inverter commissioning procedures, and grounding system reliability. Prevents quality defects (e.g., generation loss, safety hazards) caused by poor workmanship.

Technical Compliance confirmation

Verifies project compliance with PV industry policies and power sector standards (e.g., grid connection requirements, safety codes). Avoid non-compliance risks that may prevent grid connection or trigger penalties, affecting repayment sources.

Operational Risk prediction

Predicts potential technical risks during operation (e.g., excessive module degradation, inverter failure rates, plant aging) based on industry data and project characteristics. Evaluates impacts on cash flow (repayment capacity). TÜV NORD provides long-term performance monitoring and remote data sharing to ensure lenders' real-time oversight.
