With the development of automotive intelligence, technologies such as autonomous driving and intelligent cockpit have advanced rapidly, but the application of artificial intelligence in the automotive field faces challenges such as safety, data quality and management, lack of technical standards and specifications, and public recognition and acceptance. The standard aims to standardize the application of artificial intelligence technology in the automotive field, improve system safety, reliability and compatibility, and promote the healthy development of automotive intelligence.
The ISO/PAS 8800 standard provides an important safety framework and guidance for the development of AI technology in the automotive field. It is suitable for safety-related electrical and/or electronic systems using AI technology in mass-produced road vehicles, including autonomous driving systems, intelligent cockpit systems, etc. However, it does not include unique electrical and electronic systems in mopeds and special vehicles designed for drivers with disabilities.
ISO/PAS 8800 brings together best practices for the safety application of artificial intelligence in road vehicles. The standard describes a framework for managing AI safety, adapting or expanding the methodology currently defined in the ISO 26262 Road Vehicle Functional Safety and ISO 21448 Expected Functional Safety (SOTIF) standard, with core content covering AI safety lifecycle, AI system security requirements, AI system safety design, AI system validation and validation, AI system safety analysis, and data-related considerations.
