Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a statement prepared by manufacturers showing the environmental footprint of the product, assessed throughout its life cycle (LCA). The EPD marks the commitment of manufacturers to measure and reduce the environmental impacts of their products and services and to report these impacts in a transparent manner. In order to make the declarations for different products comparable, a specific procedure based on the international standards ISO 14025, ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 is followed, and specific Product Category Rules (PCR) are followed for each category of similar products. These rules can be developed for a variety of products and services, including the following categories:
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is addressed to all companies and organisations, regardless of size, and reflects the continuous environmental improvement of the company's or organisation's products and/or services, the communication of this performance to the general public, and the dissemination of this information through the product supply chain.
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is based on the principles of the ISO 14025 standard for Type III environmental declarations, enjoying international acceptance. It is verified by accredited organisations or persons and posted in international databases where users can refer to it.
TÜV NORD Greece (TÜV NORD), as part of its ongoing commitment to certification and sustainability, provides EPD verification services in cooperation with 'EPD International' for various types of products.
