Customer expectations regarding the quality and safety of products in the personal and home care sector have risen sharply in recent years.
Given that these products have a direct impact on the health and safety of consumers, retailers' representatives considered that more transparency in the way they are produced is needed in order to increase the level of confidence on the part of consumers and other stakeholders in the production and distribution chain.
In order to address this need, the IFS HPC (household & personal care) standard for household and personal care products was created in 2006. The standard was developed by the IFS in cooperation with stakeholders (industry, retailers, certification bodies, etc.).
Target
The objective of this Standard is to ensure that producers of home and personal care products are able to provide safe and quality goods to the market in accordance with the requirements of the legislation. As a result, customer confidence with the producer of the products is increased.
Scope of application
The IFS HPC standard covers four product groups:
Who can be certified with IFS HPC:
Producers of private label/private label/streaming products in the above categories
Subcontractors carrying out part of the production/packaging process
