Equipment Inspection and Certification are carried out to ensure that the rolling stock systems meet the technical and operational requirements of the specification.

TÜV HELLAS has in recent years expanded its activities in the field of inspection and certification of railway equipment and structures such as: rolling stock, traction systems, tracks, signalling, control and communication systems, safety systems.

Rolling Stock means critical elements of railway vehicles (trains) such as: automatic couplers, gates, axles and wheels, stretchers, brakes, propulsion equipment, safety loops, etc. Tracks means: rails, crossings, switches, rail welding and control, signalling, power transformers, communication - OBU, etc.

Equipment Inspection and Certification are performed to ensure that the rolling stock systems and its individual subsystems and components meet the technical and operational requirements of the specifications, including performance requirements, quality assurance and safety issues specified in the Project.

The inspection and certification of the above equipment and systems is divided into :

  • Type approval of equipment and systems
  • Certification of type tests
  • First Article Inspection and certification
  • Inspection during production/manufacture/assembly
  • Certification of running tests
  • Acceptance tests
  • Inspection during construction of tracks, substations, depots.

TÜV HELLAS cooperates with ATTIKO METRO (inspection of rail welds) and since 2002 with TRAM SA, where it inspects and certifies the rolling stock and the construction of the track and the depot.
