Genetically Modified Organisms

GMO

TÜV HELLAS has decided to establish a protocol that imposes requirements in the production and the delivery of made up food for animals, controlled for Genetically Modified Organisms GMO.

In the absence of a uniform legislation (European and Greek) concerning the presence of GMO (Genetically Modified Organizations) in the raw materials, additives and compound feedstuffs, TUV HELLAS has decided to establish a protocol that imposes requirements in the production and the delivery of made up food for animals, controlled for Genetically Modified Organisms GMO.

These requirements were established on the basis of EC legislation relevant to the voluntary dissemination of genetically modified organizations in the environment (2001/18/CE), the introduction of the regulations on the foodstuffs and the genetically modified feeding-stuffs (EC 1829/2003; GM Feed-Food) ,labelling and traceability (CE1830/2003; GM Tracebility), where conditions were adapted to the new regulation.

The objective of the conditions of this protocol is to describe the method to be followed for the production and distribution of feed on the basis of GMO controlled (< 0,9%) raw materials.

The principal objective of the conditions of this protocol consists in avoiding the voluntary dissemination of organizations genetically modified in the environment by producing raw materials or compound feed.

This procedure applies in the production of compound feeds controlled for GMO.
