GlobalG.A.P.

GlobalG.A.P. is the common effort of food retailers and agricultural products companies Euro Retail Produce Working Group (EUREP) for the setting of common regulations and the development of a framework of good production practices in the agricultural sector.

GlobalG.A.P. is the common effort of food retailers and agricultural products companies Euro Retail Produce Working Group (EUREP) for:

  • the setting of common regulations on an international level,
  • the development of a framework of good production practices in the agricultural sector,
  • continuous improvement and understanding of the good production practices and
  • the open communication between consumers and productive sectors including producers and exporters –importers.

The framework for Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P.) includes the application of:

  1. integrated pest management systems (IPM)
  2. integrated crop management systems (ICM)
  3. aiming at the short-term improvement and sustainability and the implication of the HACCP principles combined with National and International Laws.

The goal of the GLOBALG.A.P. certification is the reassurance of consumers regarding:

  • Trust in food safety issues
  • Minimizing of the environmental impact
  • Minimizing of usage of agrochemicals
  • Improvement of efficiency of natural resources usage
  • Positive attitude towards worker’s occupational health and safety

For the certification according to GLOBALG.A.P. following requirements must be met for every audit category:

1st Category: Requirements for the certification of a single producer

  • Annual internal audit according to the requirements of GLOBALG.A.P. protocol (by the producer)
  • At least one annual regular audit according to the requirements of GLOBALG.A.P. protocol (by the Certification Body)
  • 10% not planned audits in the sum of audits carried out by the Certification Body (by the Certification Body)

2nd Category: Requirements for the certification of a group of producers

  • The group of producers must maintain a control and procedures manual
  • All group members must operate with the same system
  • All group members are audited by an internal or external auditor
  • The internal audit includes all critical points of GLOBALG.A.P. and is carried out annually
  • The number of producers to be audited for certification is equal to the square root of the sum of producers (IAF guide)
  • 10% not planned audits in the sum of audits carried out by the Certification Body (by the Certification Body) 

The required documents for the GLOBALG.A.P. certification are:

GLOBALG.A.P. Protocol:
It concerns the standard requirements that need to be fulfilled by the producer.

GLOBALG.A.P. General Regulation:
It defines the system management regulations.

GLOBALG.A.P. Control Points and Compliance Criteria:
It includes specific information on how the producer must comply with every system requirement.

GLOBALG.A.P. Checklist:
Audit key points with which the producer must comply during the annual internal audit
