As the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) moves into its definitive phase, TÜV UK is pleased to announce that it is now offering EU-CBAM Verification services for organisations affected by the new regulation.
The service is designed to support UK manufacturers, exporters and other organisations that need independently verified emissions data for goods imported into the European Union.
The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a regulation intended to ensure that imported goods face a comparable carbon cost to products manufactured within the EU. It currently applies to several carbon-intensive sectors, including:
The regulation entered its definitive phase on 1 January 2026. From this date, CBAM reports based on actual emissions data must be verified by an accredited verification body before they can be used for compliance purposes.
Many UK organisations export CBAM-covered goods to customers within the EU. These businesses may now need to provide verified emissions information to support their customers’ CBAM reporting obligations.
TÜV UK’s EU-CBAM Verification service provides an independent assessment of emissions data and supporting evidence to help organisations demonstrate compliance with EU requirements.
The verification process may include:
Using actual emissions values can offer a more accurate representation of a product’s embedded carbon emissions than relying on default values. However, these values must be independently verified.
Verification helps organisations:
Organisations that manufacture, export or import CBAM-covered goods should begin preparing for the verification requirements now.
