IFS HPC (Household & Personal Care)
Customer expectations regarding the quality and safety of products in the personal and household care sector have risen significantly in recent years.
Given that these products have a direct impact on the health and safety of consumers, retail industry representatives have determined that greater transparency in their production processes is necessary. This transparency aims to enhance trust not only among consumers but also among all other stakeholders in the production and distribution chain.
To address this need, the IFS HPC (Household & Personal Care) standard was established in 2006. This standard applies specifically to household and personal care products and was developed by IFS in collaboration with relevant stakeholders (industry representatives, retailers, certification bodies, etc.).
Objective
The objective of this Standard is to ensure that producers of household and personal care products are capable of delivering safe and high-quality goods to the market, in compliance with the applicable legislation. As a result, consumer trust in the product manufacturers is significantly enhanced.
Scope of Application
The IFS HPC standard covers four categories of products:
- Cosmetics (e.g., makeup, lotions, shampoos, creams, etc.)
- Household chemical products (e.g., detergents, fabric softeners, cleaners, air fresheners, biocides, etc.)
- Everyday household items (e.g., household gloves, baking paper, brooms, aluminum foil, napkins, etc.)
- Personal hygiene products (e.g., tampons, toilet paper, bath sponges, diapers, etc.)
Who Can Be Certified According to IFS HPC:
- Producers of the above product categories, whether under their own brand, private label, or in bulk form
- Subcontractors who handle part of the production or packaging process
Who Can Request Certification According to IFS HPC:
- Companies that fully outsource the production of their private label products to subcontractors
- Producers who delegate part of their production process to subcontractors
- Retailers who source products directly from manufacturers
- Companies engaged in B2B partnerships with producers
