The BRCGS Packaging Certification is a leading global brand and the first Standard in the world to be recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GSFI) benchmarking committee. It’s why over 3,000 suppliers in over 80 countries worldwide have chosen to be certificated by BRCGS Global Standards.

This standard certification is recognised by retailers, food service companies, brand owners and manufacturers around the world when assessing the capabilities of their supply chain.
The Standard specifies the product safety, quality and operational criteria that must be in place within a packaging manufacturing organisation to fulfil the regulatory compliance obligations and protect the end user or consumer.

Manufacturers of packaging and packaging materials
Operator for upstream processes (e.B printers)
Suppliers of packaging material from stock
Manufacturers of consumer goods that produce for single use (e.B disposable drinking cups, aluminum foil)
Manufacturers and suppliers of other materials that are not or partially converted, used or co-processed (e.B. coatings and adhesives), if this is based on a risk analysis and all parties involved have agreed on the application.
The standard is not intended for packaging/materials that are not processed or processed at the audited site. Nor for activities related to wholesale, import, distribution or storage that are beyond the direct control of the company.

The introduction of the BRCGS Packaging standard - formerly BRC Packaging - has the following objectives:

Conducting an accredited audit by external certification bodies to enable a credible, independent assessment of a company's product safety and quality system
Assurance of quality, legal compliance and product safety
Compliance with legal requirements for packaging manufacturers and suppliers, packaging and filling companies
Ensuring product safety throughout the supply chain
Continuous improvement, waste reduction and performance

The BRCGS Packaging Standard provides for two different classifications of hygiene risk:

Highest risk rating: direct contact of the packaging with the food
