VSTD (VSCC)

Vehicle Safety Testing Directions are primarily used to ensure that vehicles comply with safety regulations during road operations, encompassing structural safety, braking performance, lighting, exhaust, and other safety-related equipment. These directions are established based on the attached table of Article 14 of the Regulations for Vehicle Type Approval Management and are officially announced and amended by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC). They apply to the type approval or periodic inspection of new vehicle models and imported vehicles.

Main Testing Items

Vehicle Safety Testing Directions typically cover the following areas:

  • Braking Systems: Including handbrakes, footbrakes, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) functions.
  • Lighting and Signaling: Headlights, taillights, turn signals, and hazard warning lights.
  • Vehicle Structure: Crash safety, body strength, and rollover protection design.
  • Exhaust and Environmental Protection: Emission standards and noise control.
  • Tires and Suspension: Tire pressure, wear and tear, and suspension system integrity.
  • Safety Equipment: Seatbelts, airbags, and other protective devices.
