E/e Mark

UNECE E-Mark Certification (Economic Commission for Europe Mark) is a mandatory regulatory certification for vehicles and their components entering the European and multiple international markets. Obtaining the E-Mark certificate signifies that the product complies with the technical standards formulated by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) regarding safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and environmental protection.

  • Mandatory Requirements: Products such as automotive lamps, tires, brakes, seatbelts, and in-vehicle electronic/electrical equipment (e.g., dashcams, onboard chargers) must obtain the E-Mark and display the "E" logo on the product before they can be legally sold and used in ECE member states.
  • The Difference Between "E" and "e": The uppercase "E" indicates compliance with UNECE regulations (covering multiple countries globally, such as Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, etc.), while the lowercase "e" indicates compliance solely with European Union (EU) directives.

Conformity of Production (COP): In addition to prototype testing, the manufacturer's factory must pass a COP audit to ensure that the quality of mass-produced goods remains consistent with the tested samples.
