Protecting Forests - Reducing

Certification under JI/CDM and other voluntary standards

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) flexible climate protection instruments were established in the Kyoto Protocol as one of the measures for worldwide reduction of CO2 emissions. Planting and protection of forests can play a useful role here, as emission reduction certificates can be acquired through the support of afforestation and reforestation projects.

Certificates to offset carbon footprints

TÜV NORD CERT is accredited for validation, verification and certification of JI/CDM projects in the area of "Afforestation/Reforestation" based on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and also offers certification to other voluntary standards which enable companies to generate certificates to offset their carbon footprint or to demonstrate its sustainability. Certification is directed towards forest project developers, forest owners and organisations who would like to support afforestation and reforestation projects.

In-depth experience and worldwide expertise

Certification makes an important contribution to the fight against global warming and retention of forests as a basis for the life of people and animals. TÜV NORD CERT stands for many years of experience in the area of climate protection and for worldwide expertise in the forestry sector: more than 600 JI/CDM projects have already been supported, with worldwide references for afforestation/reforestation projects in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
