FSSAI has issued an order stating that all NABL accredited food testing laboratories fall under essential services in times of COVID-19. It was observed that many laboratories are facing difficulties in getting the E-Pass and to solve this FSSAI has released a list of designated FSSAI officers state wise who can support laboratories and food industries in getting the required permission from local authorities to continue services to ensure supply of safe food.

The US FDA is issuing a guidance on temporary policy regarding certain requirements under the FDA (FSMA) Accredited Third-Party Certification Program for foreign food entities and their products which will address the current challenges with conducting onsite monitoring activities during the COVID-19 by providing temporary flexibility so that recognized accreditation bodies (ABs) can maintain the accreditations of certification bodies (CBs), and already-issued certifications need not lapse, where certain safeguards are in place.
