Reporting to

Vice President – Food Testing Services


  • PhD or Post graduate in Analytical Chemistry (preferred) or Life Sciences. 
  • Additional : MBA in Finance / Marketing preferred.


Minimum 15 years of experience in the domain of food testing laboratories, with strong technical competence, resource management and P&L management experience.

Job Profile

  • Overall management of the laboratory and ensuring that the operations are conducted true to the Business Plan and Budget.
  • Responsible for strategy, growth and profitability of the laboratory.
  • Achieve the business plan as detailed in the Budget for the year.
  • Would be overall responsible for running the laboratory and monitoring the day to day activities of the laboratory.
  • Interact with key customers understand their requirements for testing, and should have the ability to independently resolve any technical queries raised by the customers.
  • Represent the company in front of auditors, regulators, certification bodies, etc and lead all interactions related to continuity of laboratory accreditation and enhancement of scope and services related to the same.
  • Guide the personnel at various levels, understand their responsibilities and assist in maximizing their individual performance & productivity. Creating proper & healthy work environment for the personnel by addressing individual and common concerns.
  • Prepare for the laboratory various submissions such as project proposals to obtain grants, collaborations, specific funds for specific projects or benefits in kind to promote the mandate of the laboratory as also to widen the scope of services provided by it.
  • Assist the Business Head and the Marketing team to develop the business plan in accordance with the latest trends in Laboratory testing.
  • Establish and standardize the new methods and tests as required by the market with the assistance of the Manger – QA and the Technical Manager. Conduct a commercial viability study for all projects that require high capital investment.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of all key aspects of lab operations including Manpower strength & productivity, Equipment utilization, TATs, Customer Complaints, Shift operations, IT systems, Regulatory compliances, Accreditations status, etc.
  • Approval of the Quality System procedures and ensure complete implementation and uninterrupted compliance to the same.
  • Be involved in the timely and correct execution of all Quality Procedures as laid down under the purview of ISO 17025 and other applicable standards besides TUV India’s internal quality mandate.
  • Approval of test reports as an Authorized Signatory whenever required.
