What is amfori business social compliance initiative (BSCI)?

The amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is an internationally recognized initiative that helps organizations improve social performance in global supply chains.
Created by amfori, the leading global business association for sustainable trade, BSCI provides a structured framework to assess working conditions, human rights protection, and ethical business practices.

By undergoing an amfori BSCI verification, companies ensure that their suppliers act responsibly towards workers and the environment. The initiative is based on the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, which aligns with international labor standards such as those of the ILO (International Labour Organization) recommendations.

Target group of an amfori BSCI audit (verification)

An amfori BSCI audit is designed for all organizations involved in manufacturing, production, and trade that are part of international supply chains — particularly those supplying to amfori members.

Good to know!

The amfori BSCI process is a verification, not a certification. Unlike certification, a verification does not confirm full compliance with the standard, but rather evaluates the extent to which an organization meets the requirements of the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct.
