The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit, organization established in 1993 to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC’s mission is to “promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests.”
Forest managers or owners who want to demonstrate to stakeholders their commitment to sustainable forest management can apply for certification against the standards developed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC):
- FSC Forest Management certification, and
- FSC Chain of Custody certification.
FSC Forest Management Certification
is ideal for forest managers or owners who want to demonstrate to consumers and other stakeholders that their forest operation is managed in a socially and environmentally suitable manner.
FSC Chain of Custody
is used to verify all forest products through the production chain against FSC guidelines. It applies to companies that manufacture, process or trade in timber and non-timber forest products and which want to prove to their customer base that they use responsibly sourced raw materials.
TÜV CYPRUS has the capability to perform audits and to issue accredited Certificates according to the FSC standards through its group company TÜV NORD.
