PEFC-CoC Certification

PEFC Chain-of-Custody

Certification in accordance with PEFC CoC regulations controls the chain of custody for wood-based materials – including timber, paper production, printing and printed products, as well as trade in certified products.

Wood and wood-based products originating from PEFC-certified forests must reach the customer bearing the PEFC label. End users include logging companies, wood processing enterprises, pulp and paper mills, printing firms, and traders. Therefore, the chain of custody, processing, and trade must be certified to ensure that raw materials and products have a PEFC origin: PEFC Chain-of-Custody (CoC) or a certified product chain.

High standards are now set for participants in the forestry sector. Companies providing forest services – including timber harvesting, delivery of this valuable raw material, forest regeneration, and forest management – can be certified according to PEFC standards. Legal business requirements, technical standards, occupational safety regulations, and work quality are currently assessed in three areas: economic, social, and environmental.

The PEFC certificate is a prerequisite for compliance with Articles 115 and 120 of the Forest Act and allows the certificate holder to participate in tenders announced for local traders by State Forestry and Hunting Enterprises and municipal forest owners. It demonstrates the company’s responsible approach to quality work in the forestry sector.

PEFC Forest Management

Certification of forest areas under PEFC ensures the establishment of an effective forest management system and the scientific implementation of forest management activities through the application of national laws, regulations, and policy standards. It continuously enhances the comprehensive capabilities and other competencies of responsible personnel. A thorough assessment of sustainable forest management for a certified forest management unit is conducted, along with ongoing monitoring, supervision, reinforcement, and improvement of sustainable forest management practices.

By assessing, certifying, and controlling raw materials, production, processing, transportation, and sale of forest products, it can be ensured that forest products do not lead to depletion of forest resources, loss of biodiversity, or degradation of forest ecosystems. Through the implementation of this system, certified entities gain economic benefits while safeguarding environmental and social advantages.
