Hazardous goods RID and TPED
Many railway goods cars are equipped with tanks for dangerous goods or pressurised containers. Even rail vehicles are equipped with installations requiring surveillance such as tanks or pressure vessels. Here, special attention must be paid to the interface between the tank or vessel and the vehicle.
Since the legal basis and technical regulations develop and change more and more quickly, there are a multitude of cross-border settlement procedures. Where applicable, national rules of origin must also be taken into account.

- Conformity assessment procedure according to the relevant European directive
- EBO type approval procedure
- Required tests according to operational safety regulation
- periodic inspections or monitoring of alterations and repairs, using the rules applicable in each case
Our qualifications as a specialist assessor; approved monitoring agency (ZÜS) under operational safety regulations (BetrSichV); Notified Body; and, in the future, as a Type A inspection body, allow the monitoring of all these issues.
Background: Many regulations for more safety
For dangerous goods tanks, the RID requirements must be observed; for compressed-gas tanks and some special payloads, the directive on transportable pressure equipment (99/36/EC - "TPED") also applies. Pressurized payloads are, however, pressure equipment within the meaning of Directive 97/23/EC (PED); further systems in need of monitoring used on railway vehicles fall under the Railway Operation Order (EBO).
