The Highway Code made simple
720 Green arrow
The green arrow is a sign attached to the traffic light, but which does not light up.
You may turn on red at lights with this symbol. Observe the following points:
- Drive up to the stop line and stop there. The vehicle must come to a complete stop.
- Watch out for pedestrians and cyclists. They always have the right of way
- Then, drive slowly to the line of sight. Watch out for other road users with priority or who have the right of way.
- When the road is clear, you may turn. In doing so, you may not impede other vehicles.
- There is no requirement to enter the crossing. When the light is red, this is not considered impeding the flow of traffic, even in the case of a right-turn-only lane.
