EC assessment of interoperability components
EC assessment of interoperability components in line with TSI module
There must be an EC conformity declaration and/or declaration of suitability for use for each interoperability component that is to be distributed. If necessary, it is issued by the manufacturer of the interoperability components following approval by a notified body.
This EC conformity declaration and/or declaration of suitability for use certifies the conformity of an interoperability component with the relevant essential requirements with regard to:
- the modules of the TSIs
- the relevant standard
- other documents, if necessary.
The conformity of a interoperability component with the relevant essential requirements.
Interoperability components for which an EC conformity declaration and/or declaration of suitability for use is present can be installed, for example, in a car without its conformity being reassessed in a subsystem. Later, it is determined whether the interoperability components were installed properly and if they are compatible with other interoperability components during the assessment for the issuing of an EC test declaration for the subsystem.
Depending on the respective interoperability components and their technical specification, you can generally choose between individual modules and/or module combinations. To choose one of these possibilities, the requirements defined in the TSIs must be fulfilled. Specific modules and module combinations require the participation of a notified body, which carries out the assessment and approval process of the interoperability components. After the notified body successfully completes the assessment process, it then issues the appropriate EC conformity certificate.
TÜV NORD is an associated partner of the German Notified Body Eisenbahn-Cert. We support you in all matters concerning the EC conformity declaration and within the scope of the entire EC testing process.
