Failure Modes Effects and Diagnostic Analysis

FMEDA (Failure Modes Effects and Diagnostic Analysis) is a procedure for the detailed determination of error causes and their impact on the system and can be very efficiently used in the early stages of systems development for the purpose of early identification of weaknesses.

The requirements of safety standards are the avoidance of errors within a safety-relevant system and to reduce them to a reliable residual error probability or a residual error rate. Depending on the selected system structure and the Safety Integrity Level to be achieved, the ratio of safe error incidents (Safe Failure Fraction – SFF and SPFM) must be calculated. This is where FMEDA is used with its mathematical models and calculation methods, aimed at estimating the residual error probabilities and residual error rates resulting from malfunctions.

Our services:
The objective of hardware development is to avoid and/or master errors and to limit the probability of dangerous malfunctions on defined values. For you, we will determine the variables such as λdu, λsd, λdd and λsu, PFH, SFF, DC, MTTFD, CCF, ß factor, SPFM, LFM, DCRF, λSPF, λRF, λMPF and λs required by IEC 61508, IEC 61800-5-2, IEC 62061, ISO 13849-1, and ISO 26262.

We will determine the required variables using an FMEDA workbench created by us. Here, the failure rates of the electronic components used are taken from the RDF 2000 UTE C 80-810 (IEC 62380) reliability forecast standard drafted for Europe by CNET.
On request, we can also integrate or apply other reliability standards such as SN 29500, IEC 61705, FIDES Guide, etc.
