Health is the greatest good
The healthcare market is the largest growing market in Germany. But globally-rising heath awareness and the socio-demographic factor are making "getting older" an economic engine. With the TÜV NORD HealthNet initiative, we have bundled the development potential of this growth market by networking all the industry's important institutions and companies via a knowledge portal.
This allows the current 4.4 million working in health care to communicate with each other in a contemporary manner. Hence, we are also supporting the tremendous innovative power of medical technology with its total of 16,742 patents (in 2007 – European Patent Office).
In addition to institutions, universities and private research facilities, the target groups above all include hospitals, rehabilitation centres, medical care centres, stationary retirement homes and care facilities, doctors' practices, pharmacies and medical supply stores – and the numerous ambulatory retirement and care service providers.
A further core field are the 12,000 nationally-active medical device industry companies, with sales of more than € 18 billion per annum with their 170,000 employees.
