OPTISCHICHT® shift working
Keynote ideas for shift working
Both the night shift as well as shift-working present employees with an exceptional workload, which can result in a permanent strain and also oftentimes leads to work-related health problems or cause shift workers to fall ill. This has been sufficiently proven for regular night shifts through longstanding ergonomic research.
Within this context, § 6 of the German Working Time Act stipulates that the working time of night shift employees and shift-workers must be defined in accordance with the sound ergonomic findings on designing humane working times.
Creating shift plans according to occupational medicine criteria is the most effective method of mitigating effects caused by shift working. An ergonomically designed shift system reduces sleep and health impairments, provides improvements in the private sector, increases performance during working time, and also facilitates participation in events or further education measures.
