Noise protection
Machine acoustics
We provide machine manufacturers with advice for developing low-noise machines for industrial workplaces. Warranty agreements are made with the customer for these machines. These warranty agreements serve, among other things, to protect personnel against noise at the workplace. As a rule, once the machines have been commissioned, compliance of the warranty agreement is to be inspected.
The Noise and Vibration Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance (LärmVibrationsArbSchV) has been in effect in Germany since March 2007. Since then, a trigger value of 80 dB(A) applies to industrial workplaces, which in turn requires further measures. The tightening of this limit has resulted in amendments of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC according to which immission levels must be specified in operating instructions and sales brochures. For manufacturers, there are also additional verification and documentation obligations, in particular, since the machine components have been classified as machines according to the directive.
Thresholds for sound level specifications lowered
In accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the level at which detailed sound immission specifications are required for machinery has been lowered to 80 dB(A). For manufacturers, there are also additional verification and documentation obligations, in particular, since the machine components have now been classified as machines according to the directive.
The immission specifications help customers compare similar machines from different manufacturers and serve as an objective assessment under uniform conditions. This makes it easier for operators to employ low-emission machinery.
What sets us apart?
Thanks to our longstanding experience and technical measurement equipment, we can assist machinery manufacturers in fulfilling and complying with the legal requirements.
What services do we offer?
- We support you in developing low-noise equipment and machinery by providing our longstanding experience in sound design.
Supporting machine manufacturers:
- In developing low-noise devices and machines
- Noise level measurements in the vicinity of machines according to the machinery directive and outdoor guidelines
- Sound design of machines
- Identification of noise sources and transmission paths
- Preparation of operating instructions and sales brochures
- Determination of the sound power level LWA in workplaces
- Determination of the immission sound pressure levels at workplaces Lpa
- Examination of warranty agreements
- Determination of acoustic characteristic values of machines and devices in the reflection-poor area and in the reverberation chamber
We identify the noise sources and transmission paths and measure the sound power levels LWA at workplaces as well. This is of particular importance for reinspecting the manufacturer's specifications.
n addition, we also determine the emission sound pressure levels at workplaces Lpa
We draw up operating instructions and sales brochures for your new machines.
What standards and legal regulations form the basis of our work?
The machinery directive 2006/42/EC serves as the foundation for our activities.
In addition, the EC Noise and Vibration Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance (LärmVibrationsArbSchV) is also used.
