Assessment of wind conditions according to IEC WT 01
Not gone with the wind
Is a wind farm location compatible with the IEC WT01 or does the selected system need to be adjusted to the site conditions? This is a question frequently asked during project planning. The TÜV NORD experts help you answer this question.
The following wind conditions are inspected:
- climate conditions (e.g. air density)
- average wind speed
- shape factor "k"
- 50-year wind
- cross-flow
- wind shear
- effective turbulence intensity
Special locations require special methods. Through our experience in computational fluid dynamics and the corresponding hardware and software tools, we offer a wide range of various simulation options, from mesoscale to microscale models.
The calculation of cross wind, shear winds on precipices, or the lag of large neighbouring buildings or other significant obstacles on the wind turbines and vice versa are only a few examples for the safety-related and economic benefits of these methods.
