Verification of emission reports in the aviation sector
Experts in lean ETS structures
Aircraft operators in the European Union now also have to participate in emissions trading and must hold sufficient CO2 certificates to compensate for the carbon dioxide emitted. In concrete terms this means that companies who offer flights within the European Union or continental flights from and to Europe have to present emission and tonne-kilometre reports and have them verified by a neutral body. TÜV NORD CERT is a recognised and competent partner in this area, with wide-ranging experience both in emissions trading and in the aviation sector.
1. Verification in 2011
Emission reports must be presented and verified by the 31 March of each year for the emissions of the previous year. This is required first of all for the year 2010 with verification by 31 March 2011. Aircraft operators are free to choose the partner who is to verify the information in the reports by inspecting all the information collection and monitoring systems and the corresponding documentation.
Competence under one roof
By deciding on TÜV NORD CERT, aircraft operators reduce the risk of an unsuccessful verification process. TÜV NORD is market leader in the verification of emissions reports for stationary installations – this guarantees the highest level of experience and competence. TÜV NORD has been active in the aviation sector for many years, and has its own Competence Center Aviation, bundling the know-how of numerous experts in the sector – offering in-depth understanding of the processes and requirements of aircraft operators, including technical aspects. As a further benefit, TÜV NORD CERT also offers a pre-audit, which can reduce the time needed - and therefore the cost - of the final audit.
