Competitive advantages for the feed industry
For effective consumer protection, continuous checks at all stages of foodstuffs production are required. The feed industry has therefore agreed at the European level to introduce checks during the production of additives and pre-mixtures. To this end, the FEFANA (association of producers of additives in animal nourishment) has established the international, uniform standard FAMI-QS (European Feed Additives and Premixtures Quality System). TÜV NORD CERT certifies all of the producers and manufacturers of additives and pre-mixtures that are approved in the EU for animal nourishment and their suppliers.
The advantages are many: Certified companies increase their product safety and prove their compliance with the legal requirements (hygiene standards). And you benefit from the increased recognition from your customers. Against the backdrop of globalization, which is becoming more apparent in the feed sector as well, certification by TÜV NORD CERT allows simplification of the handling.
The European guideline for companies in the feed additive and pre-mixture sector follows the ordinance of the European parliament and council with regulations for the hygiene of feed (183/2005/EC), which recommends in article 20 to 22, the working out of guidelines for sound practices in feed hygiene and the use of the HACCP principles.
Companies that would like to be certified as per FAMI-QS can simultaneously contact TÜV NORD CERT and the keeper of the standard FAMIQS Asbl. (www.fami-qs.org) auf. After successful auditing and certification, the company will be named on the FAMI-QS website. The certificate is valid for three years and there is an annual monitoring audit.
