FSSC 22000 wordt beheerd door de stichting voor voedselveiligheidscertificatie, een organisatie gebaseerd in Nederland die al langer het HACCP schema beheert. Dit certificatieschema is gebaseerd op de internationale standard ISO 22000 en de specificatie PAS220.
Deze standaard is in tegenstelling tot ISO 22000 wel erkend door GFSI (Global Food safety Initiative).
